Poetry: Heartbreak & Healing
Salty Graves
by Travis

This flag flies at sunset
and not a moment to soon
patient, till dusk's descent
running away with the waves
carving the horizon
with a black bow
and a crimson starboard
these yellow rippled shores
harboring these shadows
a kings long slumber
with a waking cry
a shout from above
to raise this crown
It demands its rightful heir
assassinated in minutes
forgotten forever...

A captain's final voyage
from earth to the heavens
he travels alone
no comrads, no friends
everyones an honest worker...
till they get paid
Mutiny and choas
hung by the deckhands
flown like a trophied catch
among the winds
meant to carry them home...

Hell rains down
Erupting vengeance
Unshaken and strong
the hero's death
a pity some say
songs shall ring forever
praise to these mortals
who gave their souls
its rare to find one so pure
a heart of gold
as it litters the seafloor
drowning among the guppies
torn apart by sharks
immersed by its maker
Motherearth, she knows best
