Poetry: Heartbreak & Healing
Goodbye
by Cathy

Last night I cried myself to sleep,
this morning all the pain has somehow found me.
When I needed him most, he wasn't there.
He was lost in a bottle and going nowhere.
I can't count the times he's let me down,
I only know I can't hang around.
Because life's too short to live this lie,
I wish that I didn't have to say good-bye.
His lies and deception drove me away,
a marriage with no trust is no place to stay.
Longing to be held and longing for the truth,
My favorite lie he told was the words "I love you".
