My Love


There once was given to me, in a time of need;
a gift of wonderous beauty, at face and in the heart.
So beautiful this lady,in thought , in word and deed,
that all my trouble vanished, I loved her from the start.

She gave to me no promise of where it all might go,
but never did she falter in her quest to make it right.
I lived that time a happy man, for she had made it so;
No wonder that I love her, and keep her still in sight.


For several years we worked and played, Ah yes! we did it well; So well for sure, so warm and good, how truely pure it was.
Each day began in splendor, we showed so you could tell,
Along that course we faltered not, our lives a constant buzz.

To others we became as one, just perfect one might say,
so many things we did that brought us fun and joy.
To us the work was easy, because we made it play.
All that touched us then, became a new found toy.

And then the day did come that it was over,
now must I lay alone at night in bed;
No longer do I smell the fragrant clover,
nor touch the very soul from which I fed.

With no regrets I go about each drab and pastel day,
for then there comes the night and I can dream;
Of when we come togeather and you stay, until the
dawn you ride away on sunlights golden beam.

To love as I have loved you will always be the best,
and I will not abandon how it felt;
No one but you can take my heart and put it to a test,
no one but you could ever make it melt!

A gift like that comes once in most mens lifetime,
I thank you for the kindness you have shown,
I'll cherish it in joy and then in strife time,
until my very death my life has flown.
