Poetry: Heartbreak & Healing
Sonnet 1
by Colin Walsh

Alas and yet more so do I alack
my love knows not the lie of this my face
still ever so wish I with her to shack
thus new brought old plea I to thee my love
sorrows pour freely out from the eye
that glistening sees me through you look past
summ'ning heavy harrowing sighing sighs
though deaf your ears I'll wail until the last
For this know you the tenor be of my love
which persists despite reply not overt
wear I like masked cloak like leathern glove
a desire that must as yet remain covert
But ever and for all days I appeal will make
that I one day may of your love partake
