Poetry: Heartbreak & Healing
Roses
by Gerren McHam

You were like the gardener and I was your beloved rose.
Like a rose I built myself on a foundation, of trust I had in you
The leaves symbolized the many parts that lead to the top...
At the top was the flower of love.
It shined with such brilliance and looked like it would last forever.
But you left me for my best friend.
Like a gardener forgetting about his beloved flower and going to another
My veins have become dry without your precious water of love,
The light of your ways have disappeared,
And you have taken the breath of life from me.
Like a rose missing light, sun, and air,
Now I have begun to dwindle away and die.
But as I breathe my last breath I watch you loving him the way you
Loved me.
