In That Moment
by Michael Wishwood
Looking into her deep blue eyes, in that moment we only saw each other, nothing else.
Her smell that can only be described as flawless, that for a moment, erased the smell of pain and guilt.
Her petite, bony structure, in that moment, paints a false portrait of her true strength that shows only when she plays her game.
In that moment, the birds don't chirp, the grass doesn't grow, and our blood ceases to flow.
In that moment the earth stands still as we share the taste of love's final kiss.
In that moment, the itchy green grass turns to soft yellow sand.
The grey concert street turns to blue immense oceans.
The massive Oak trees turn to beautiful palms.
The cars, the homes, the man mowing his lawn are all gone.
In the moment, Any Town, USA turns to Paradise.
And it's that moment when she says, that she has forgiven me, but can never again envision me in that light she once saw. This can not go on but that I too will soon forgive her.
And it's that moment when she turns to go and with her she takes a love that once was so strong.
In that moment all the time we gave to each other now becomes trivial.
In that moment she leaves behind the months that could have led to everlasting love.
It that moment it's all gone.
But it's not only that moment when I can never agree, and I can never understand why it all had to end in that one dying moment.
