I dreamed with eyes shut of the days gone by
I dreamed of my lazy childhood days
Of days filled with laughter and fun
sun kissed days full of joy
Then I dreamed of tomorrow and what would be
I saw my children all grown and wise
I pictured of all that life could offer
riches and fortune at every turn
I smiled in anticipation of what I would have
happy and confident to face the future
Then I woke with the golden sunlight on my face
I saw my husband snoring peacefully by my side
I heard the birds chirping
The sweepers sweeping
The newspaper landing safely at the door
I heard the sounds of the scuffling feet of children rushing to school
I heard the laughter from the children's room
Then I raised my hands to the Lord and thanked him for Today!
