Poetry: Heartbreak & Healing
Promised Spring Morning
by Sheila Putnam

I opened the door
To such a spring-like morning.
It made me stop for just a moment,
To look around
And take a deep breath.
The breeze was so gentle
And unusually warm for November
And it felt wonderful
As it blew through my hair.
I stood gazing
At the pink and purple sunrise
And thinking of you.
I thought how wonderfully
Perfect it would be
To have you standing there with me,
Breathing in the sweetness,
Hand in mine.
How contented I would be
To take a long walk
Through that springy, hazy,
Breezy morning with you...
My true love.
So, I have decided
That it is my fondest wish
To spend one of these
Mornings with you.
Will you promise
One beautiful Spring morning
To me?
