Poetry: Heartbreak & Healing
One Day
by Greg Johnson

I recall now why we said our goodbyes
I recall now that look in your eyes
Moments like this tear a heart into pieces
I wish I was able to fight this weakness
You heart was once mine and not anymore
I like being alone, I want to be ignored
See you anywhere and my thoughts are halted
This feeling for you has to be exalted
All this emotion crowding up inside
I think I should crawl in the dark and hide
There in the shadows I thrive in my life
I eat off your pity and drink up my strife
I think to myself that this will all go away
But it stays with me to this day
Leaving behind someone like you is not easy
Just thinking about it makes me feel queasy
To take one day and leave it all behind
That would be a relief to my restless mind
These uneasy thoughts will not go away
I just wish we could be together one day
