Poetry: Unrequited Love
Last Chance
by CD

Beautiful green eyes sparkling like diamonds,
strong, lean, and tall.
We laugh, talk, and joke for hours,
with no effort at all.
We recall some happy times,
some sad, and in between
and all this makes me wonder
what might've been.
If we could go back in time and
re-do what has been done,
would the end results
be better for everyone?
Or are things now as
they should be,
her with you and
him with me.
Many night I wondered where you were,
and held you in my dreams.
But now I'm thinking it might
be more than it seems.
Is it a coincidence
or is is fate?
Giving us one last opportunity
before it's too late.
This is it,
our very last chance.
Will we sit on the sidelines,
or will we dance?
The decision is only
ours to make.
It all depends on
the roads we take.
One goes East,
the other goes West.
No way of knowing
which is the best.
Do we keep things the way
they are right now,
Or take the plunge and pray
they'll work out somehow?
Only two choices,
but what to do?
In the end it all relies
on me and you.
