Poetry: Unrequited Love
True Love
by Sarah Breslin

He said, "I love you"
She didn't speak.
As she lay quietly he
Kissed her cheek,
Hopin' and prayin' that she'd be ok
That she would make it, that it's not too late.

Oh the love of _a friend_
It is patient and kind,
It is pure, thoughtful and true.
But the love of _a friend_
Becomes love _unending_
When it's been tried, found tested and true.
True love

Whispers say she doesn't have a chance
But he don't care, he just wants her back.
He's been here, sitting, for three days in a row
Maybe they're right, maybe he should let go.

But the love of _a friend_
It is faithful and true,
It is patient, unselfish and kind.
And this love becomes stronger, an _unending_ love
When it's been tried, found tested and true.
True love.

Late that night, she awakes
First thing she sees is his face
When their eyes meet,
Her look says more than words ever could.

Oh the love of _a friend_
It was patient and true;
It was pure, unselfish and _kind_
And this love has been tried,
It's been tested and proved,
Now it's stronger than ever before.
True love.
