Poetry: Unrequited Love
Expiration
by dylan

Whose curtain falls today at noon
Having risen early at dawn
With the haughty pomp of love's sun
Glittering hot on asphalt lawns?

All aglow from a gas out-sprung,
Shining brighter with each return
Flash of reflected attention,
Mutual gravity fresh burnt;

The morning drags, then pitches up
New stones with old thoughts of delay;
Tides exact placid emotion
Stormily drawn then thrown away.

Not much more than space sufficient
Belies the distance in between,
Small cosmic waves prove deficient
Next to a nova caught and seen.
