Poetry: Unrequited Love
i don't want you
by Carola

I want to tell you what I need
That way you know what to do so that I don’t leave
I don’t want jewelry, not silver or gold
All I want is for you not to leave me alone
I don’t want your money
Instead I want you to call me honey
I don’t want you to say "Baby I can’t stay"
Because that will ruin my day
I don’t want you to take me to the mall
However, I want you to show me that I am your all
I don’t want you to buy me clothes
Yet, I want you to admire me from my head to my toes
I don’t want you to lie
Because that will make me cry
I don’t want you to put your friends first
I want you to show me that I fulfill your thirst
I don’t want you to have secrets or something to hide
All I want is for you to be by my side
I don’t want you to cheat on me with other girls
Instead I want you to treat me like a pearl
Now I tell you that I am not materialistic
But that I am realistic
So I want you to cherish every moment that we are together
Because you don’t know if we are going to last forever
