Poetry: Unrequited Love
It's Cold Outside
by Douglas R. Little

It's Cold Outside

Who can say why two become one?
Sometimes it happens because
they want it; sometimes not.

Lovers are fire and love is the heat they produce.
Maybe two become one to share flames
they carry inside; maybe not.

One thing I know: things that are alive are hot.
Dead things are cold.
Outside of love, life is cold.
You see, love is life and life is living,
living is sharing and sharing is caring.

Baby, it's cold outside.
Come inside and leave the dead of winter behind.
You see, if you remain in the cold,
you become cold and your love will never unfold.

Another thing I know: heat melts ice,
so let love entice; come inside from the cold.
