Poetry: Unrequited Love
A Thousand
by Joe

A thousand dreams both day & night
A thousand visions climb.
A thousand memories converge,
To paint your portrait in my mind.

A thousand dancing, flickering stars
In a thousand midnight skies.
Are a thousand poor comparisons,
To the beauty in your eyes.

A thousand chances did arise,
To but touch your gentle hands.
A thousand times that passion’s tied
With a thousand iron bands.

But a thousand fervent wishes,
And a thousand urgent pleas,
Or a thousand tears will never change
What was never meant to be.

For a thousand foolish, empty dreams,
And a thousand bitter strife’s,
A thousand sunsets all alone,
Slowly quench loves thirst for life.

So, a thousand sorrows pierce my soul,
A thousand deaths I die.
A thousand empty heartbeats pound
Each time you pass me by.

A thousand churnings deep inside,
A thousand raging fears.
A thousand mournful echoes sound
Of your voice within my ears.

A thousand words are left unspoken,
A thousand thoughts left pondering.
A thousand hopes were shattered and broken
One bewildered soul left wandering.
