Misery
by Sheron P. Brathwaite
Misery
Misery is felt deep in one's bones
sorrow is experienced, known
melancholy drags on and draws you out
pain is tormenting without a doubt
Joy is extraordinary and can be shared
happiness is like a child's smile, without a care
elation needs no explanation
Love isn't tangible, and spreads like a disease
it takes over the senses and leaves,
the lover paralyzed to it's charms
lightens the heart and raises the arms,
to embrace possibilities unknown
love invades the body, infects the soul and deludes the mind
leaving the lover convinced, that their partner is the "one"
clouds their judgment and leaves the lovers undone
