Indecision
by D. Ward Lee
You have waited,
Indifferent and indecisive,
Dodging my yearning hands and heart
With quick and clever moves
That seem to promise warmth and love
Even when I shiver from the cold breath
Of your rejection.
You have waited for so long
That hands and heart are weary
And ice has become my element.
Sometimes in dreams I can still feel
That long-imagined flame of your passion
Reciprocated--
But just in dreams, and they are fleeting.
Now I would dodge at your approach
If you came near.
