Frogs are an Endangered Species
by Laurel MOss
I keep looking for a frog to kiss
The winter pond is full
And never the sight or sound of frog
Perhaps my love
as is the frog, an endangered specie
I long to kiss him once to hear his song
To be assured that life goes on
To leave him free and each wet year
to overhear him ribbit
In chorus or alone
My heart is moved to hear
The Ribbit Song heard round the world
He sings of life, he sings of love
I know he sings a mating tune
to lure me to the woods
His song rings out until at once
I step upon a twig
The silence echoes all around
And now
no frog
to kiss
