Poetry: Unrequited Love
Who am I?
by Amanda

Can I define who I am?
3 pages, double spaced
Cover page not included,
by the professors request

Unsure If I am capable
confidence not quite there
I am looking for inspiration
yet, all I do is stare

Here goes nothing
Words begin to spill
onto the looseleaf paper
and my mind starts to fill

I am five foot four,
one hundred and twenty pounds
Medium length brown hair
Hazel eyes...only few have found

I am a mystery
I try to keep you guessing
Puzzled by every move
What are my intentions?

Twenty-three years old,
loves to dance
hard-working and determined,
knows when to take a chance

A mind that wanders,
with a heart that loves
Music is my remedy,
just because

I make mistakes,
have lied in the past
I almost got married
but we didn't last

Two children later,
joint custody for both
working full time, going to school
I never give up hope

Who am I?, you ask
I'm really not sure
I know I have a purpose
and my intentions are pure

I have loved and lost,
dreamed and been let down
Betrayed and decieved-all in one breath
The guilt made me confess

I appreciate where I have been,
and aware of things I have done
I recognize what I enjoy
and never forget where I came from

I am a person
Human so to say
At times, people may be different,
but we do all feel the same
