Poetry: Unrequited Love
The Wait
by davefx

What a way for me to spend my day, waiting for my girl.
She phoned to say she was dropping by and that I'd see her soon. The clock now reads midnight, she called at half past noon.
Of course I know she only comes here when theres noone else to see or do, hell, I would'nt come here either, I mean if I were you.
Some times she shows up late at night, after the bars have all shut down. She knows that she can tuck away after a night out on the town.
We get naked and jump in the sack. We go til the early morning light, then with a pat on my head she'll say "sorry, gotta run, I'll definetly pop back by tonight".
"Is that a promise" I shout as she speeds away, knowing that it all depends. Depends on if shes having more fun with her more better friends.
Tonight again I sit here lonely and notice it's getting late. I wonder if she notices too. No, she knows I've got nothing else to do, but to sit here and wait.
