Poetry: Unrequited Love
Watching You Go
by Nancy Simmerman

You know that I'd give you
The world if I could:
The ocean,
The stars,
The sky.

You know that I'd love you
As much as I could:
Your heart,
Your smile,
Your eyes.

You take what I've given
And throw it away
My hope,
My heart—

Have died.

You leave me here waiting
And longing for you
And walk
Away—

Good-bye.
