In The Stillness
by Laurie Yoshino
In the Stillness
In the stillness of the dark,
I sit in silence,
listening to my own breath
form no words
of wisdom that I long for
sheer comfort.
Tiny scars crisscross
among the arteries of my
pumping heart, the hurt
of a man?s pure love
of gambling, his love
so great that it
blocks his weak mind
from understanding that
his own sickness can
bring such horrible grief
among those that care for him
from the heart of Jesus
Our Lord
