Poetry: Unrequited Love
Untitled
by Cindy Valerio

As i lie awake accompany by the silence of the night
Thoughts transport me into the past.
And it's easy to find you face among treasured blessings of my mind.
Slowly i recollect memories of what we had.

The road to happiness had splinters and thorns.
We were targeted by our sorroundings.
Who found joy and force when our empire was destroyed.
Each failure made them stand stronger before us.
They were victorious at harming our love.

Our potential was disminished
When pride became our ally.
Weeks passed before wars on love and hate
were disputed over the phone.
Yet each held the same fate.
The weaker side always subdie.

We were both victims of confusion at a time.
When feelings challenged our pride.
Yet bliss always found a way to gain reign.
As it was the night my blood was shed.
While you took possession of my most valued gem.
Guards and arms were put down as u led the way
to where my thoughts found desire
yet place that remained physically untouched.

Affection didnt play a big role in our song.
Our foundation was buit of rocks.
I wonder what built so a strong bond?
Was this a mission we had to complete for the one up above?
Or was it a punishment for a wrong we caused?
Whatever reason for the crossing of our paths,
The force that brings me towards you even after my soul has been harmed is greater than what made us fall apart.

Im ignorant to the future facts.
But aware of those that made this journey a bumpy one.
At last experience and knowledge have combined.
Making me realize that in my life, soul, body and mind you outstand.
And as i put pride aside tonight i must confess that you are the one.
