Poetry: Unrequited Love
La Lueur Obscure
by amber

gliding down the hallway
scraping nails down the walls
remembering how we had talked, so long ago it seems..
..wondering if you had kept our secret...
walking in, seeing the roses strewn about the apartment,
a smile on my face..
have you forgotten our secret, my love?...i glance at the door to the bathroom....the lights on....curious....
past the tattered tablecloth, melted candles and spoiled dinner for two...
everything was in its place...
but had you forgotten the very best part?....
breath held...opening the door....
tall, elegant black candles surrounding the tub,
burning silently over the waters...
how i loved those crimson waters!
feeling the memory of our love, our talk of this day....
this tryst....
knowing what i had come to do...
"i see you began without me, my love.."
i mutter, picking the blade up from the floor...
your beautiful hands...still bleeding...
"now it is my turn, so i can be with you.."
and i sat down on the tile, beside the tub...with the cool blade in my hands....
waiting to join you forever
...in rapture's light.
