Poetry: Secret Love
Today I Cried
by Tonya Barber

I cried for me and you
For all the things we'll no longer do
For the future we'll spend apart
For the hurt and disappointments that separated our hearts
For end of a love that once was so sweet
For the cuddles and late night talks that cease to be
For the end of our spiritual dances together as we sleep
For the end of listening to the melodic rhythm of your heart beat
For the first time since we said goodbye
Today was the first time I criedAs the memories flashed through my mind
I relived the moments of our most precious times
When we communicated, expressed love, and was more forgiving
And every minute of the day was worth living
I cried for the touch my body achingly miss
For the absence of your pillow soft lips
For the insecurity I feel now that you're gone
I no longer sleep safely wrapped In your arms
I cried for the silence of our laughter
For realizing there is no forever after
For the first time since we said goodbye
Today was the first time I cried
For not loving enough to forgive each other's shortcoming and mistakes
For ignoring one another and not speaking for days
For being too proud to apologize
For every time I caused a tear to appear in your eyes
For not having the ability to turn back the hands of time
For the first time since we said goodbye
Today for all these things I cried
