Tongue Tied
by Sadie Kay
I'll tie my shoes tighter than normal, cut the blood flow to the tongues of my sneakers,
And I'll run with my particularly inarticulate shoes to meet you.
Hold my hand then, my discreet companion,
Feel all the blood rush back to my extremities,
Ignore to cold-you are my remedy.
Your lips move to flatter your tongue,
We speak of present times and past,
And with my own lips and my own tongue, I kiss you, to taste you, and to make your flavor last.
