Where Are Thee, My Beloved?
by Ross H. Bruce
Where are thee, my beloved?
Silent echoes and a prayer.
Dream within a dream I encountered
While your heart seemed far away.
I looked for thee in my vision
Where my future is within the horizon.
Searched thy footsteps in elation
Only to sense my self-preservation.
Where are thee, my beloved?
Faded pictures of days gone by
Fragrance of flowers in our prime
While thy kindness, still gentle in my mind.
I looked for thee in peaks and valleys,
Mountain ranges and deep blue seas.
But all I see is nothingness
Of once upon a time. . .
