Are you the lovely quintessence of love?
As power corrupts, love is not harmless,
But yours, my dear, is a hand in a glove;
A love that stymies me afflictionless.
Shall I regret this rueful emotion?
An emotion that shackles your true mind;
From food comes ration, through love comes portion,
You must avoid this even if inclined.
Only one person can offer it all:
A person that through presence satisfies;
A person that defended you with gall;
A person who was with you through your cries.
By someone else was she made known to Earth,
And that person is, she, who gave you birth.
