Poetry: Life Long Love
Poem Like a Heart
by Bryon D. Howell

Together we stood, the edge of goodbye,
preparing to leave, we managed a kiss.
We both spread our wings, but neither could fly -
one more second chance, it all came to this.
The mountain was high, we hiked and we climbed.
We said we were done with no turning back.
A twosome estranged, a sonnet un-rhymed -
our poem emerged through skies painted black.
Together we turned, went back down the hill -
a pen in my hand, a rainbow above.
The lightning had stopped - the world seemed so still.
We kissed once again, and finally - love.
Remember this scene when all falls apart.
A poem needs love, and love shapes a heart.
