Poetry: Life Long Love
Ignorance is bliss
by David E. Smith

How do I begin to explain that I didn't mean to
hurt you with the words I said

Sure my anger was fueled by the abundance of ignorance
that rolled off your tongue as if you had rehearsed it for that very moment even though you were far from right

How do I begin to explain that I didn't mean to
hurt you with the words I said

Digging my fingernails into my palms in attempt to clench
the last bit of tolerance that was quickly being torn
away from the confines of my soul

How do I begin to explain that I didn't mean to
hurt you with the words I said

Eyes shut to deafen the contemptuous being within that
begged and squalled to stand in on my behalf
to end this madness

How do I begin to explain that I didn't mean to
hurt you with the words I said

Like nails on bare slate your vacuous crap marred
the harmony of my reason removing all possible hope
for diplomacy...

How do I begin to explain that I didn't mean to
hurt you with the words I said

Having to go through these motions much too often
because you'd rather talk than listen, Always drowning in
your own intellectual low tide

How do I begin to explain that I didn't mean to
hurt you with the words I said

About to loose control of a situation that had no other
purpose but to demolish any sense of sensibility
simply because you didn't know what to say?!!

How do I begin to explain that I didn't mean to
hurt you with the words I said

How do I begin ?..................
I don't ; I meant every word
Next time try thinking before you speak!
