Poetry: Life Long Love
The Unsaid Wish...
by R. Rainford

I have no choice,
So I must voice my deepest want
My inner craving
My dream, which I have kept so open a secret
My wish of wanting

I want you
All of you; all of who you are and do
I want you to turn your eye my way when I pass,
Sense me; feel me as I walk into the room
And know it is whom you knew it was who graced this place
Before you see my face; Burn...Yearn for my embrace

I want you to notice the swell of emotion
Full and shocking, awing as the ocean
Turning both our faces red when we're near each other
Innocent and scary when it comes again
And sets your heart aflutter when I maybe, possibly
Work up the courage to just barely touch your hand

I want you to wake with my name on your lips
And to stay in that state as you wait for my kiss
As the first thing you want to touch your sweet face
Just in case, I don't see another day, or just anyway
But still, you know I will
But you want it none the less for the feeling that you feel

I want you to need me, to hold my head near,
My breath to raise your flesh when I kiss close to your ear,
For your hand to come up to my head to caress, yes...
But more to hold me close, to keep me from going
Anywhere out of your aura, and for this to happen
Without you even knowing that this is why you've done it

I want to matter to you, like a subconscious search
Like hunger, exhaustion or the hint of a thirst,
I want my absence to taunt you and remind you
That you need me, in the vaguest of ways; during the days
I'm not there, but my memory stays with you, always
A thing always there that you never see, like air

I want you to want to worry about me worrying about you
To scream for me silently; to want me to be empty
Frustrated without you, even when you're most mad at me or madder

Of love or lust which is a must; because I want you to want my touch
Almost as much as you want to know for sure that my soul is yours

My secret wish...
It's only this.
Not so lofty a desire but still something that I die for
And look for in the tiniest hope when I see your smile
And for a while, at least, I can hope it comes true
I want you to wish for and want me...
As I have wanted you
