Miss Elizabeth
by Patricia Anne McQuerry
She's a lady so refined
She drinks her tea while reclined
Her coquettes way of looking over her cup
Makes my heart skip and then take a jump.
In her kitchen she takes such care
Her focus akin to a surgeon can be compared
With loving care she conveys her delicacies
Smiling demurely as she places them on my knee
"Here dearee" she says in a voice heaven sent
Then delicately takes a step backwards intent
Watching as I raise the pie to my lips
I look at her and say "mum yum" and smack my lips.
Her laughter rings out like a beautiful bell
As the mud pie comes towards my lips, she lets out a yell
Mischief shines in the eyes of that Great Granddaughter of mine
Miss Elizabeth a lady so refined
