Poetry: Life Long Love
The Moment
by Bruce Habercom

The Moment
(Karen's Song)

One day follows the last
The night follows the day
Each breath that I take follows that which came before
Of these small wonders I know
Yet for the moment, briefly, between the day and night
Between the constant ethereal rhythm of my breathing
Within that single timeless moment, there is life.
To seize that moment..........
Some men paint frescos upon life's canvas
Some compose symphonies to float along a breeze.
A sunset provides the pallet within my soul.
The wind, the sea, the bristling brook the sway of leaves
Are accompaniments to the song within my heart
I upon this stage, and you, my sole audience.
I have but this moment, where beauty and music join together
And in that moment, capture a masterpiece.
That ever so soft mummer that meets your ear, escapes me
In unbridled passion
Greeting the arrival of that moment.
That soft and gentle touch you feel upon your face
the bindings I place upon that moment
Commanding it to remain.
That delicious taste you sense upon your tongue
the nourishment I give freely to that moment
So that I may sustain it.
That awe you see within my eyes when I look at you
Envelops the moment
begging it to last
And in the end
I lay down at night
to dream of memories of that moment
What greater way to say farewell.
I wake each day
to smile and beckon the next pending moment
what greater way to say Hello

And until the next single timeless moment comes my way.
The night follows the day
Each breath that I take follows that which came before
Let not the dizziness of my anticipation
Dim the memory of that moment
Let there be that murmur
That awe
That firm but gentle touch
That first delicious taste
Let that moment last or yield to yet another
Life yields to death and a story yields to an ending
Of these small wonders I know too well
I have but this moment that yields to yet another.
Those utter words of yours remain imprinted deep within.......
"......just one more
..........before you go."
I live for that moment.
