Patty's Poem
by Deborah Lambert
The Lord looked down at Patty
And said "We need to talk"
Your grandma needs some company
And Checkers needs a walk.
Patty pleaded "I’m not ready Lord"
There are things I’ve not yet done
And who’ll be here to care for
My husband and my sons?
God said "My dear Patty"
Your worries I will cease
I promise it will all work out
And you will be at peace
I know that your main worry
Concerns your husband Jim
So I’ll send a guardian angel
Who will watch over him
Your youngest son needs guidance
So to earth from here in Heaven
I’ll send strength to your family
And they will care for Kevin.
Your oldest, James, will be just fine
For him I’ve planned a life
Of happiness and blessings
With Jaime as his wife
You’re just the kind of person
I can trust with many tasks
And if you ever need me
All you have to do is ask
For Patty dear I have a plan
To complete it I need you
You will be my messenger
I have much for you to do.
There are families who need you
Their hearts are bruised and sore
For they are sick with worry
About loved ones in the war
There are hundreds of sick children
Whose parents by their side
Will need you on their shoulders
You must be their guide.
I’ve watched you run your business
With skill and loving care
I’ve watched you raise your children
With love beyond compare
I know that you’ll be perfect
For all that I need done
I asked your grandma what she thought
She said that you’re the one
She just can’t wait to see you
She’ll be waiting here tonight
To put her arms around you
And hold you oh so tight.
Please don’t worry about your family
I’ll send signs to help them see
That you’re no longer suffering
And you’re happy here with me
In summer I’ll send breezes
In Fall, the changing leaves
To let them know that you’re okay
I know they will believe
In Springtime I’ll send raindrops
To make the flowers grow
And I’ll coat the world with magic
With the winters pure white snow
And when your life is over
On your last earthly day
I’ll send a brilliant sunset
To let them know you’ve found your way
And one last thing before you leave
I must Thank your mom and dad
For they are giving back to me
The most precious gift they ever had
Now lets look back and have a look
At all the things we’ve done
Your work on earth is finished
But in Heaven, it’s just begun
So come to me dear Patty
You’d like to stay that’s true
But I need another angel
And I have chosen YOU!
