Voices of the People
by A. Liase
All human wisdom, knowledge and insight is objectified, personified,
Put into words in order to convey a message of hope.
All have a point of discontinuity
Children are our future, says the woman before her abortion.
Education is key, says the sixteen-year-old high school dropout.
Vini, vidi, vici, says the man as he stabs a fork into his steak.
Hard work pays off, says the man looking for a la-z boy recliner.
Love conquers all, says a woman reciting her vows a thirteenth time.
I work for the sake of my children, says the father leaving the bar.
My money is your money, says the beggar to the passer-by.
Listen to your heart, says the physician.
Reach for the stars, says the yoga instructor.
Follow your dreams, says the alarm that interrupts your nightmare.
Nature is unpredictable, says the meteorologist.
I stand for freedom, says the prisoner of war.
Live each day as if it were your last on earth, says the executioner.
All human wisdom, knowledge and insight is erroneous, worthless.
All but one is useless:
Perfection does not exist, say I.
