Poetry: Concern/Thinking of You
Gone
by Alicia

Darkness slowly crowds my vision
As my mind of its own volition
Filters out all the good and beautiful things
I saw when I was with you.

Now, again, I live in a world of ghostly shapes
The future, an open mouth that gapes
Ready to devour me
Now that you are gone.

Mind fights with heart
And heart against mind
Two unyielding forces confined
Inside the shell of me
The result:
Almost certain tragedy.
Since you’ve gone away.

I didn’t cry that day
But I’m crying now.
As I lay my head down
My mind lingers on you
And I wish you were here beside me
Instead of so far away.
But I know that you are gone.
