Forgotten
by Richard M. Joseph III
Forgotten
Great joy has filled my heart,
When I heard your mellifluous voice
Over the phone last night.
But there was a missing chord
In your melodious voice.
My left ear was deceived by the note
It heard your voice spoke...
And my mind ws troubled a s well
Like the mind of a five-year-old child
Who's looking for his mother in a noisy crowd...
Great was the joy that enveloped my soul,
But slowly it declined as in a decrescendo.
My heart almost stopped
'Cause it's been racing
After the echo of your voice over the phone.
But you told me
You'd call me back
'Cause u seemed to be very busy.
Yes, indeed. Very busy.
I was waiting for thee to call
Till one o'clock.
Unfortunately, I was forgotten once more.
I'm sorry I might have disturbed you
When I called, if you were;
Well, I wanted to hear your charming voice.
I needed to feel cozy,
But there was no pond in the desert.
I sat by the phone for very long
Hoping you'd call back last night.
But there was no moonlight to guide my paths.
So, I waited, waited, and waited.
I sighed, sighed, and sighed.
I was tempeted to call you
'Cause I thought you might forget me,
But I let it go.
And I was thinking about with someone else...
Please, forgive me for I've doubted thee last night
'Cause I felt I was forgotten.
