All my life
by Alison
I just wanna grow up,
get my schoolin' done,
And be able to look back,
and like what I've done.
But i'm going to Jasper next year,
And as I bathe under the sun,
during my summer break,
I know that I'm far from done.
But all my life,
I just wanted to make friends,
live with no judges,
to tell a heart when to beat and when to end.
When I get to school,
I want the girls there to know,
that though I may seem plain,
I live my life with a special kind of glow.
When the boys see my in class,
at lunch or in the halls,
I want them to see ME,
and watch as I walk and pause.
This may be too much to ask,
after all, we're just teens,
But I want them to read this poem,
and wonder aloud what it all means.
So, when you read this poem,
and if you're continuing school next year,
try to judge less,
and live without the fear,
Of yourself being judged,
because that only leads to something worse,
something that could land a suicidal teen,
in the back of a herse.
Just accept people for who they are,
whether they're pretty or fat,
and if you think that you're beautiful,
don't act like all that.
Boys, don't oggle just the hot girls,
sometimes the best girl is right under your nose,
look beneath the surface in them,
and you can tell if they're wonderful, but don't act like you knows.
