Poetry: Concern/Thinking of You
Yesterday
by Marvin Fuhs

Wasn't always like today
Sour apples once were sweet
from trees not your own
Autumn nights warmed by the fires of youth
a special thrill when your breath
came in white clouds
that soon faded into nothingness
of adolesence

Young feet that raced
bracidng the wind
wild in the song of youth
A face of summer dust
streaked by sweat
leaving trails on a face
dirt to fill the memories
from the race of yesterday

When you chased your shadow
never quite catching it
Your first wild storm
when lightning streaked
and thunder rolled barrels
across a sky filled with terror
that roared and crackled
through wind ripped trees
and fear held yoiu tight

Your first girl friend
who blushed when you held her hand
Who at the high school prom
gave you your first kiss
our heaven here on earth
Sweet memories
the days of youth come back
like the first blossoms
when spring came early
