Poetry: Concern/Thinking of You
Feelin’ Empty?
by Dan Smith

You ever have that growling in the pit of your stomach?
That one that when you hear it,
it sounds like the rumble of thunder on a stormy day?

Hunger is like a car low on gas,
when the needle is on E.
Hunger is like the emptiness you feel
when you’re deeply depressed.
It’s like the last drop of
water on a hot, summer day.

Hunger is like the dryness
of your throat when you’re really thirsty.
Hunger is like the that craving
you had, but had to wait to fill.

Hunger is like the water
you never wanted to drink.
Hunger is like the food poisoning
you wish you never had.
But you are glad
that you do not
suffer from hunger.
