Comparison-itis
by Daysha(Jasmine) Lambouths
Sometimes I wonder why we live as we do,
Wrapped and caged in the feeling we choose,
Insecure, unsure, plain and simple not happy,
Comparing our bodies, our eyes, our hair is to nappy,
Looking outward to shape ourselves into what others want,
Treating out inner selves worse than any child could taunt,
Not looking inward for the true person we are,
Pleasing others, putting them first we think makes us a star,
Buying Prada, Gucci, and Guess to prove that we are big,
All the while not filling the whole in our hearts but further in debt we dig,
You are special even though others say no,
You are someone all it takes is for you to believe so,
Reach for the potential and purpose within you,
Dreams will be achieved just take one step destiny will take two.
