Poetry: New Love
The Monarch Butterfly
by Jacqueline Bell

The Monarch Butterfly

It swooped in swiftly and without warning
A vision to behold
It was majestic is size, bold in intimacy and colors that blended with pure perfection
It was beautiful
and
I
responded
beautifully
No sounds were necessary
I was mesmerized, hypnotized and enchanted
This thing of nature was attracted to me
It fluttered around
It flustered around
It enraptured
I was hooked!
I focused on nothing else while
It focused on me
When it spread its wings
I spread my eyes
When it showed its colors
I filled in mine
When it flew away
I wanted to follow
But, alas, I could not
I was left alone, but not lonely, I was full
Because
I
had
beheld
a monarch butterfly
And it had beheld me
Swiftly and without warning
And
I am made better
