Poetry: New Love
Isabelle's Song
by Alan Gorman

My heart knows pain in a summer moment’s afterglow
Our passion shared not long ago
In bondage lies my heart and soul
Left desperately seeking a life without you
You’ve enshrined my heart, you’ve bought my soul
And I have felt love this spring eternal flow

Eternal my lover forever more
And I can never be the same again
I wake at night as I dream of you
Your eyes, your smile, your laughter through
A moment lived and loved with you
And I will never be the same again

Eternal destiny, my heart sobs for you
My passion belongs to you forever too
And, I know though you won’t say
Your heart seeks mine, still, every day
Love’s destiny found and left to pass
Fragile hearts as if made of glass
And what I need to say to you
I love you still and that is true

Eternal my lover forever more
And I can never be the same again
I wake at night as I dream of you
Your eyes, your smile, your laughter through
A moment lived and loved with you
And I will never be the same again

Recall me fondly as I will you
As each new spring brings skies of blue
And when blue skies transform to gray
Remember love foregone wants it that way
In fifty years when I am gone
Relive my love through Isabelle’s song
As I will sing it from my grave
Shattered love’s face is always brave

Eternal my lover forever more
And I can never be the same again
I wake at night as I dream of you
Your eyes, your smile, your laughter through
A moment lived and loved with you
And I will never be the same again
