Once Upon a Time
by Chel
Tell you a story you ask?
Let it begin at once upon a time
Take you to a place of imagination
Make the words scream from this pen
Forcing every sense to border on sanity
Let there be a woman
She is sensitive, intelligent, compassionate
She should have a man, her love far deserving of his reach
She is but broken, moments from shattered
She has loved few, all too wrong
Getting hurt is a game she does not play
Now to tell that the sacrifice is never falling in love
Let there be this man
He is strong, intelligent, passionate
He is lost, scared to love
He fears his personality to fail him
Getting hurt is a game played no longer
Now to tell that the sacrifice is never falling in love
Let there be a time of denial
That these two should meet
Let them pretend they do not need love
Let the fallacy remain
Now to tell the story takes a changing hue
Let them see in each other all that was blind
Let their eyes open to what did not exist
She is not broken . . . he wears no scar
Getting hurt is a game they come to risk
Now to tell that they no longer pretend
Tell you a story of two strangers
They have fallen in love
In a world so far and close to imagination
Let them want, yearn for experience
Now to tell that the story has just begun
