Poetry: New Love
I've fallen for you
by Alejandra Reyes

We met on the third week of May
It was a sweet beautiful day
We started out as friends
And I began to understand
That I could reach out my hand
And you'd be at the other end

And little by little
I started to fall
For the eyes that held history
For the stare full of mystery
For that wonderful charm
That leaves my heart warm
And for that graceful smile
That's just like a child
For the dimple in the side of your cheek
That I find typical and simply unique
For the voice the lights up my day
And for the wonderful hugs
That say "It's okay"

My feelings were clear
And I was in fear
For I had never felt so close and so near

You say
"Be a little more daring and don't be a prude"
But I want to show I'm just caring and one of the few
You say
"Let yourself go and savor the moment"
And I say
"I wish that I could, but I don't think that I should"

I want to be free and just let things be
But I'm just afraid that in time it will fade
I'm just afraid you won't just stay
I'm just afraid my heart you will break

Its been more than a year
And I'm sitting here
Wondering
Pondering
Of what's brought me here

There's no more to say
So just take my hand
And please,
Just show me the way
