Poetry: New Love
Fifty Years
by ken

memories fade, prices paid
as fifty years of marriage slip away
hoping the best, coping the rest
my knight to save the day

hardened hearts, painful parts
countless tears from my eyes
broken dreams, unheard screams
some hard to say good-byes

the sun shone threw, our children grew
their laughter filled inner spaces
i pledged my time, it gave me rhyme
covering all our bases

fifty years of ups and downs
fifty years of unbroken vows
and not one day, I'd give away
or ever change what happened
