Afraid to Pursue Gay Crush

Q: I am a man that has a crush on a male friend. How can I tell him? I'm not sure if he is straight! -- Rick, 55

Dr. Susan: You probably don't know him well enough yet to announce your crush out of the blue. Ask leading questions about his weekend, what his favorite memories are, his hopes for the future (ask in whatever guy-way feels comfortable to you). Do some disclosing of your own so that it becomes plain that you like men. Just by moving your friendship up a notch with those sorts of disclosures, you may find out where he stands.
