Playing the Field
I met a really nice guy at a baseball game one night and then a few weeks later I got his number and just called to say hey. Well, weeks went by and we'd see each other around town and casually say hey to one another. After late night talks and occasional lunches, we started dating. He was like Mr. Perfect, a total sweetheart and gentleman but yet freaky. We had been going out for a month and it was graduation night when I saw his older brother and asked him where my boyfriend was. He said that he went parting, so I went out myself. The following day, I left town for about a week and a half. When I got back, I saw his number on my caller ID, so I called him back. He said he needed to talk to me, but not then. So, at about 11, I called him and at about 1 in the morning we got to talking about dating and not cheating. Then he started stuttering something, so I stopped and was like, "Are you okay?" He said, "I have to tell you something ... I cheated on you." Talk about MY heart dropping! He gave me the details and said it was a complete accident and he'd never do it again, so I forgave him. Well, about a month and half more had passed and we'd see each other whenever we could, considering our busy lives. I was checking my mail one day and a girl that I'm acquainted with started talking to me. I had heard rumor that she had been hooking up with several different guys, so I asked her about it. She misunderstood what I meant when I said 'his house' and she went into detail about him and her together one night. I was so mad at both of them. I told her that I'd get back to her after I talked to my boyfriend. Well three days went by and I hadn't heard from him and no one seemed to know where he was, either. I called my cousin and talked to her and she said she had news too, so I said, "Okay, shoot." She told me that when I made plans to be out of town for the month, he was telling people that since I was leaving, he'd be "playing the field." I still haven't heard from him but when I do I'm going to play cool with it all and then when I think the time is right, I'm going to show the town what a player he is and I'll make sure he never dates again.
