The Almost Date
I live next door to three brothers, all in their thirties. Jon, the middle one, was always flirting with me, so one day I took him up on his offer for dinner and a movie. About an hour later, he called me up and was kind of talking around in circles. I couldn't tell just what he was trying to say until he finally blurted out that his mom wouldn't lend him the money to take me out. I burst out laughing without even meaning to. I mean, what guy in his thirties needs his mom's money to go on a date? We never went out and he avoided me for the remainder of the next two years that I lived there.
