I agreed to go out on a blind date with this guy I'll call Bob. He seemed nice enough on the phone and was a friend of a friend, so I thought it would be fine. When I pulled into the restaurant parking lot, he was waiting by the door for me, as we had arranged. However, as we walked over to the table, an older woman was sitting there. He told me that he hoped I didn't mind, but since his mother was paying for dinner, she insisted on coming along. Talk about awkward!
